CMCC Food Festival 2009-09-20

The Lord said, “I gave you a new commandment: love one another…This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

It was a blessing from God that the food festival day was sunny and mild. The food festival was a fun filled event with many choices of food and performance programs for all ages. The event goers were encouraged to bring their food utensils to be environmentally friendly.

Fr. Deng said the opening prayer and gave a blessing to all parish volunteers and event goers. The Charismatic Prayer group was the first parish group to perform. We were filled with passion and offered the singing to the Lord. Our group used the “oldies” as the theme for the booth decoration, food and games. We present our service as an offering to others and also as a symbol of unity to the Church.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Image On Nov 26, 2008, we were very blessed to have Fr Henry Yeung celebrate an evening mass at CMCC. It is followed by prayers for healing. About 100 parishioners joined the mass, and Fr. Andrew Deng and Fr Joseph Ly were the con-celebrants. Fr Henry was a parishioner of CMCC; he entered the seminary at the Archdiocese of Vancouver in 1999 and was ordained in June 2006. Fr Henry said he was imparting double blessings on all the congregation when he prayed over everyone, since this was his first mass at his own parish. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Henry, Fr. Deng and Fr. Ly.

Eucharistic Celebration & Healing Service with Fr. Bill Comerford

On Sept 25, 2008, Fr. Bill Comerford celebrated evening mass with healing service with us at CMCC.
In his sermon, Fr. Comerford reminded us that there is healing grace in every Eucharistic celebration. At suitable time and place, we as a group may pray for the special intention of healing. Fr. Comerford led us through a forgiveness prayer because forgiveness is the foundation of healing.
Towards the end, Fr. Comerford encouraged participants to share their needs and we interceded for one another. We felt that the Holy Spirit had been guiding us the whole night. Many parishioners found Fr. Comerford's dynamic prayer style very helpful.

The parish fund raising event -- Singathon 2008 -- was held on Oct 25. The theme this year was "Praise the Lord". Our group presented the song "Praise the Lord" (讚美主). As we were singing with hand-motions on stage, the audience joined us singing and praising the Lord. The hall was filled with heartfelt praise and worship to the Lord. Alleluia!
